About Mecka

Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI. We design and operate global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI and robotics teams. Our operations span multiple countries, with contributors, partners, and customers across North America and Asia.

Our Mission

Robotics will become the largest industry in human history — larger than anything that has come before it. As intelligent machines move into the physical world, they will dramatically expand global GDP, raise the material standard of living for everyone, and ultimately help make humanity a multiplanetary civilization. None of that happens without one thing: enormous amounts of high-quality, real-world data.

Mecka AI builds that foundation. We are the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI — the substrate that teaches machines to perceive, reason, and act in reality. Get this right, and we accelerate the most important technological transition of our time.

Our Culture

  • Excellence as the baseline. We hold an extremely high bar and expect the best work of your career. Mediocrity isn't interesting to us.

  • Highly technical. We reason from first principles, not by analogy. The best argument wins — regardless of title or tenure.

  • Truth-seeking. We are relentlessly honest with ourselves and each other. We chase reality — measured, not assumed — and kill our own bad ideas fast.

  • Maniacal urgency. The work matters and the clock is real. We move fast, ship, measure, and iterate.

  • Extreme ownership. You own outcomes end-to-end — no hand-offs, no excuses, no waiting for permission.

  • Hardcore. This is a high-intensity environment for people who want to do the defining work of their lives.

The role

As the company scales, reliability at volume is won or lost where our devices are built and used. As Reliability & Testing Lead, you own reliability and test execution at the source — the test regime, the production test gate across EVT/DVT/PVT and into mass production, failure analysis on returned units, and the loop that turns failures into design fixes.

Based near our manufacturing partners, you are the person who makes sure a bad unit is caught before it ships and that every failure becomes a design improvement, working against the reliability bar set with the Head of Hardware in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Own the reliability test regime: drop, thermal, cycling, vibration, ingress, and HALT/HASS as appropriate for a body-worn device.

  • Stand up and own the production test gate — the functional and calibration test stations that catch defects before units leave the factory.

  • Lead failure analysis on returned and failed units: root-cause, failure taxonomy, and the data behind it.

  • Own the closed loop from field and factory failures back into design and process fixes, partnering with EE/ME design in Toronto and supplier quality at our contract manufacturer.

  • Define and report the reliability metrics that show whether quality is improving as we scale.

Minimum qualifications

  • 5+ years in reliability/test engineering, including ownership of a reliability program for consumer or wearable hardware at volume.

  • Hands-on with reliability test design (drop/thermal/cycling/HALT-HASS) and with failure analysis and root-cause methods.

  • Experience building or running production test stations and gates with a contract manufacturer.

  • Strong at turning failure data into a clear taxonomy and actionable signal.

  • Based in or willing to relocate to China; fluent working across a China / North America split (English working proficiency; Mandarin a strong plus).

Preferred qualifications

  • Body-worn, action-camera, or always-on device reliability experience.

  • Background from a strong China hardware-execution org (e.g. DJI, Insta360) or a wearable manufacturer.

  • Experience standing up a failure-analysis function into a real system.
