Mecka
Mecka builds the data, evaluation, and deployment infrastructure for physical AI, supplying the real-world human-motion data that robotics labs and foundation-model teams use to train embodied systems. Rather than relying on teleoperation or simulation, it captures first-person human activity — hand gestures, gaits, full-body kinematics — using custom body sensors and iPhone-based capture rigs, then annotates it into demonstration corpora for vision-language-action and world models; its dataset is branded Egoverse. The four founders came from fintech and consumer backgrounds rather than AI research: CEO Josh Gao and Mogen Cheng previously sold a restaurant-payments startup, Jason Chong sold an earlier company to Coinbase, and Duy Nguyen built a sneaker-resale business. Often compared to Scale AI for its picks-and-shovels role in robotics data, Mecka counts 1X Technologies among its early customers. It raised an $8M seed led by Neo in 2025, then a $25M Series A (November 2025) and a $35M follow-on — $60M total — led by Framework Ventures, with Menlo Ventures, SV Angel, Kindred Ventures, and angel Ted Xiao participating.
