At Fundamental, you'll work on unprecedented technical challenges in foundation model development and build technology that transforms how the world's largest companies make decisions. This is your opportunity to be part of a category-defining company from the ground-up. Join the team defining the future of enterprise AI.

About the role

As a Technical Program Manager at Fundamental, you’ll be the connective tissue between Research, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams. You’ll help ensure that our Research team has the necessary tools and resources to keep moving at pace.

We're looking for a force multiplier - someone whose presence makes the entire team more effective. You don’t need 10 years of experience, but you do need a foundational technical background and a get things done mindset.

This is a high-impact role for someone who is technically curious, exceptionally organised, and thrives in the ambiguity of an early-stage company.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the lifecycle of research programs, from scoping and roadmapping to execution and post-launch

  • Work with the research team to turn complex research objectives into actionable plans

  • Implement “just enough” process. Facilitate stand-ups, retrospectives, and anything else required to keep the team moving fast without the drag of bureaucracy

  • Track dependencies across the team - from data requirements to compute resource allocation

  • As an early member of the team, you will help define our internal tooling, documentation standards, and how we collaborate as we scale

Must have

  • 1-3 years of experience in a technical project/program management role, or a background in software engineering/data science with a desire to move into leadership

  • You are comfortable with ambiguity, ready to pivot when data changes and are willing to get stuck in and help out with whatever the team needs

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organisation

  • You have a proactive mindset towards expanding technical competencies and staying current with evolving AI tools and technologies

  • You are happy facilitating end-to-end alignment, ensuring every contributor is rowing in the same direction

Nice to have

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Familiarity with the Machine Learning Lifecycle (training, evaluation, deployment)

  • Experience working with tabular data

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation with salary and equity

  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, vision, and 401K

  • Fertility support, as well as paid parental leave for all new parents, inclusive of adoptive and surrogate journeys

  • Relocation support for employees moving to join the team in one of our office locations

  • A mission-driven, low-ego culture that values diversity of thought, ownership, and bias toward action
