Orbital Industries
Orbital Industries is an AI-first industrial company that uses frontier AI to design, manufacture, and sell physical products, starting with data-centre hardware. Its proprietary atomistic simulation engine, Orb, models the quantum mechanical behaviour of up to 100,000 atoms on a single GPU and is used to discover new materials and design components in silico before physical iteration. Two near-term products target high-density GPU compute: a PFAS-free dielectric immersion cooling fluid and modular data-centre hardware sold through the Orbital IT division. Founded in 2022 by CEO Jonathan Godwin (previously at Google DeepMind, where he worked on AI for science and advanced materials), CTO James Gin-Pollock (a repeat AI founder who previously sold a company to Shutterstock) and COO Daniel Miodovnik, the company rebranded from Orbital Materials in May 2026 to reflect a broader ambition spanning energy, semiconductors, critical minerals and aerospace. Headquartered in London with a San Francisco office and roughly 50 staff. In May 2026 Orbital raised a $50M Series B led by Plural, with participation from NVentures (NVIDIA), Radical Ventures, Compound and Fly Ventures.
